Andrew Goodwin

We was also set the task of researching Andrew Goodwins music video theory and how he believes a video can either amplify or contrast the lyrics of the song.

Firstly Goodwins theory develops the relationship between lyrics and visuals. This theory sees Goodwin believe that a music video will either amplify or contrast the songs lyrics, for example Goodwin develops his theory with 'thought beats', this is where the beat can be amplified by the video cutting of the music video.

As well as this Goodwin suggests that every music video has a trend or a pattern, this includes whether the music video has a continuous aspect that can be related to the artists style of music.

Goodwin also believes that voyeurism is part of most music videos, this includes sexualising artists or people in the video, for example close up body shots of a females body and not her face is sexualising her image.
